Under direction, responsible for the development and implementation of
an internship program in support of the proposed Sustainable
Agriculture and Food Systems undergraduate major. Independently
develop ideas for internship and outreach activities based on
consultation with faculty and community leaders, analysis of students'
needs, and investigation of current research on experiential learning.
Recruit and screen placement hosts, investigate new field sites, and
maintain relationships with people in the agriculture and food system
community.
Provide individual advising for students interested in the proposed
SAFS undergraduate major. Monitor and evaluate initial, ongoing, and
completed experiential education field placements, primarily for
students enrolled in SAFS courses. Assess students' academic progress
toward satisfying proposed SAFS undergraduate major requirements.
Responsible for coordinating outreach activities. Coordinate
informational meetings to inform undergraduates about the use of
internships in career planning and specialized services obtained
through the campus Internship and Career Center and Advising Services.
As part of the UC Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental
Sciences (CA&ES), the Agricultural Sustainability Institute (ASI)
provides a hub that links initiatives in sustainable agriculture and
food systems across all departments and units of the CA&ES, the
University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural
Resources, and with other state, national, and international partners.
ASI is directly responsible for the statewide UC Sustainable
Agriculture Research & Education Program (SAREP), the Russell Ranch
Sustainable Agriculture Facility, and the UC Davis Student Farm. ASI
is a key participant in the development and planning for a proposed
undergraduate major: Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems (SAFS).
The ASI office is located on the main campus in Robbins Hall.
50% fixed appointment
The full salary range for this payroll title is $3,009 - $5,115/month
(100% time); based on the project budget, starting salary rate for
this position will most likely be between $3,009 - $3,536/month (100%
time).
