 PUBLIC HEALTH NUTRITION SPECIALIST $44,439 - $76,502
(Public Health – Nutrition)
Plans, initiates and provides nutrition consultation services in child care settings in Durham County. Responsible for
fulfilling requirements for grant funding for nutrition consultation for child care including program service delivery,
data collection, and writing required reports and components of proposals for future funding. Develops and
implements activities to address identified nutrition and physical activity needs in child care settings working closely
with staff and parents. Assists child care settings in maintaining or improving compliance with child nutrition rules.
Requires good written and oral communication skills and ability to work well independently and with a team. Some
early morning, evening, and weekend work will be required. Requires any combination of education and experience
equivalent to a master’s degree in nutrition or public health nutrition and one year of nutrition/dietitian experience; or
a bachelor’s degree in dietetics or foods and nutrition and two years of nutrition/dietitian experience. Prefer
candidates with master’s degree and bilingual skills, preferably in Spanish. Valid NC driver’s license and reliable
transportation a must.
Special Requirement: ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration and NC Dietitian/Nutritionist License.
