Positions with the Florida Department of Health WIC & Nutrition Services Program

Please note the current requirements for Florida public health nutrition professionals:
·         Health Educators L2 (Nutrition educator) positions require a bachelor’s degree in nutrition or dietetics. 
·         Public Health Nutritionists are required to be licensed as a dietitian/nutritionist in the State of Florida.  Public Health Nutritionists with advanced degrees and/or experience in public health nutrition are eligible for higher-level positions.
·         Knowledge of Spanish or Haitian Creole is desirable in some locations.

For more information about Florida licensure, see the Florida Dietetics and Nutrition Practice Council web site at: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/dietetics/ or call 850-245-4373, #9.  In order to become licensed, you must attain a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nutrition, complete a 900-hour preplanned supervised experience (like a dietetic internship), and pass the RD exam.  Registered dietitians are eligible for licensure by endorsement.

Nutrition educators may be eligible for the Florida WIC dietetic internship after one year of employment in the Florida WIC program.  The intern is required to work an additional year for the Florida WIC Program following the internship.  For more information call 727-861-5250, ext. 123.
