Positions in the Division of Blood Diseases and Resources-August 20th deadline

Search for a Health Scientist Administrator position with the Division of Blood Diseases and Resources, NHLBI, NIH, Bethesda, MD.

Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree and
experience with translational or clinical research projects, strong record
of research accomplishments, good understanding of how biomedical research
is performed, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. U.S.
Citizenship is required.

The positions combine scientific program management with opportunities to
maintain links with academia, research, and patient care. The successful
candidates will develop and manage basic, translational, and clinical
research initiatives and programs; assess the research progress of NHLBI
grantees and serve as a resource to the scientific community regarding
NHLBI/NIH policies and procedures; as well as participate in setting the
national strategic direction for research in the blood disease areas.
Training in NIH operations and policies will be provided

The first position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and experience in
the areas of transfusion medicine, novel cellular therapies, and/or
immunobiology. Candidates will have a strong record of research
accomplishments and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The second position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and
experience in classic
hematology including mechanisms and clinical disorders of erythrocytes,
(particularly hemoglobinopathies), and inherited and acquired bone marrow
failure syndromes. Individuals with expertise in clinical research and
translational medicine are encouraged to apply. Strong interpersonal and
communication skills are required for the position which involves management
and development of a diverse research grant and contract program covering
basic biological mechanisms, translational research, and clinical research
includes comparative evaluation research.
