Assistant Professor in Dietetics/Human Nutrition at the University of Kentucky

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses that support a growing human nutrition and dietetics program. Applicants should be comfortable with infusing diversity and state of the art issues into the curriculum. The successful candidate is expected to contribute expertise to student learning in a variety of areas including but not limited to the following: dietetics, human nutrition, food systems management and advising. The specific teaching assignment is dependent on departmental needs and individual expertise. In addition to student learning activities, the successful candidate is expected to maintain a funded translational research program and participate in department, college, university, community and professional service.

Responsibilities:
Serve as a faculty member with a 12 month appointment in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science with approximately 40-50% instruction and 50-60% research distribution of effort.
Participate in the Department by teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, serving on graduate committees, and providing departmental service.
Implement research relative to nutrition, dietetics, food science and/or food systems management and publish results of this research in refereed journals.
Seek and acquire externally funded grants and contracts for relevant research projects.

Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability for effective teaching and scholarship.
Potential for obtaining external funding.
Competence with computer applications and dietetics practice.
Demonstrated support of professional organizations in the discipline.

Preferred Education / Experience
Earned doctorate in nutrition, food systems management or related field.
Earned professional credential of Registered Dietitian preferred.
