POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor in Nutrition with a focus on obesity/weight management or related area. This appointment, which is scheduled to begin August 16, 2010, is a 9-month tenure track position with a competitive salary and start-up package commensurate with qualifications and experience. RESPONSIBILITIES: The selected applicant will be responsible for 1) maintaining a strong extramurally-funded research program in basic or applied/clinical research in an area of obesity or related field; 2) directing doctoral and master's students; and 3) contributing to the graduate and undergraduate teaching programs.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in nutrition, physiology, biochemistry, endocrinology, epidemiology, behavioural sciences or related field with a strong record of research and university instruction. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English.

SETTING: The department is affiliated with the College of Human Sciences and offers bachelor degrees in nutrition/dietetics and nutrition science, as well as masters and doctoral degrees in nutrition. Nutrition laboratories (a total of 7500 sq.ft.) are located on the first floor of the Poultry Science Building, which was built in 2005. Opportunities also exist to collaborate with investigators from the Auburn University Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Research Center (with 3T and 7T capabilities), the Boshell Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Research Program, and the East Alabama Medical Center.
