USDA, National Institute of Food and Agriculture - National Program Leader in Nutrition

We are delighted to spread the word that we have an opening for a new National Program Leader in Nutrition in our group at the National Institute of Food and Agriculture at USDA (NIFA, formerly CSREES). This person will have the opportunity to take a true national leadership role in Extension and integrate Extension with research and education. As the National Program Leader for Nutrition, you will provide leadership, oversight and perform critical tasks in four broad areas within the scope of the Nutrition programs, which include: (1) Network and collaborate with Federal, Land Grant and other partners and stakeholders to identify mission-relevant problems, opportunities and issues requiring Federal attention and support; (2) Conceive, formulate, and execute research and extension programs and activities to respond to existing or emerging problems, opportunities and issues through the development and application of science-based knowledge; (3) Administer and manage research and extension programs and activities to develop and apply science and knowledge; and (4) Evaluate and assess the quality, outcomes and impacts of these programs; and disseminate to partners and stakeholders.

Additionally, you will establish goals and objectives for new programs, allocate resources, enhance program capabilities, and work with National Program Leaders to strategically integrate the Nutrition Program with Extension Nutrition, Health, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and other NIFA programs as appropriate.

You will establish and maintain contacts and relationships with the highest-level officials in other Federal and USDA agencies, universities, professional societies, and industry to promote a shared agenda and provide effective cooperation and coordination of research and education efforts. Travel may be required.
