We are hiring a nutrition faculty member at the assistant or associate professor rank. This is a tenure-track position that includes teaching, research and service.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate, the RD credential, college teaching experience, and the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses across the nutrition curriculum, such as courses in advanced nutrition and research methods. The candidate should be able to assume additional duties, which may include development/delivery of web-based classes; curriculum development; integrating community resources into the classroom; developing alternative methods of program delivery; working with student organizations and relevant industry and advisory groups; promoting the program; student advisement; and participation on departmental, college and university committees.
NUTRITION AT HUNTER COLLEGE
The mission of our program is to educate professionals to promote health and prevent disease among diverse urban populations. We are part of the Urban Public Health Program, which has more than 26 full-time faculty members. Nutrition has four full-time faculty, a college laboratory technician, and several adjuncts who serve 70 undergraduate (BS) majors, 50 graduate (MPH) majors, and 12 dietetic interns. We are also part of the program at the CUNY Graduate Center that offers the Doctorate in Public Health with a specialization in public health nutrition.
ACCREDITATIONS
Hunter’s Didactic Program in Dietetics is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetic Education (CADE). The Dietetic Internship at Hunter is CADE-accredited, as well. Our MPH degree program, which is accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH), is in transition to the accredited CUNY School of Public Health at Hunter College.
COMMUNITY
Hunter has a student body of almost 20,000 spread out among four campuses, all located in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. Our program is located at the Brookdale Health Science Center on East 25th Street, a 15-minute walk downtown to Greenwich Village or uptown to the CUNY Graduate Center at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue.
