Surry County Health & Nutrition Center has an immediate opening for a full-time Nutritionist II.

Setting: Our public health department has a progressive Nutrition and Health Education Department offering Medical Nutrition Therapy, ADA Certified Diabetes Program, Weight Management programs, WIC supplemental nutrition and education program as well as Health Promotion programming in the school and community. The Surry County area includes the towns of Dobson, Elkin, Pilot and Mount Airy and scenic Pilot Mountain State Park. Our Health Department Director is also a Registered Dietitian and actively promotes our nutrition programming.

Description of Work: The primary responsibility of this position is to provide nutrition counseling for pregnant women, infants, and preschool children, breastfeeding education, school and community health promotion, and medical nutrition therapy. This is a full time position but job sharing will be considered.

Minimum Education and Experience: Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetics Registration; or Master’s degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or Nutrition; or graduation from a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education – approved Didactic Program in Dietetics and two years nutrition experience; or Dietetic Technician, Registered with the Commission on Dietetics Registration with a Bachelor’s degree in any subject area from an accredited four-year college or university and two years nutrition experience; or a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition from an accredited four-year college or university and two years nutrition experience. Individuals meeting the academic requirements but without the experience requirement will still be considered.
