If you are selected for this position, your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
-Screening newly admitted patients to determine the patient's level of nutritional risk and medical and research priorities. Providing all components of the Nutrition Care Process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring/evaluation) for patients requiring standard level nutrition care interventions.
-Providing technical assistance to the metabolic and clinical research dietitians in managing the nutritional care and research support services for patients of the NIH Clinical Center, including the Metabolic Patient Care Unit and Metabolic Kitchen as well as other patient care units as assigned.
-Planning, implementing, and managing metabolic diets and complex clinical and research diets, under the direction of a dietitian.
-Assisting in coordinating metabolic food service activities. Training new employees and retraining existing employees to expand skills to meet changing work environments. Collaborating with Cooks to ensure performance outcomes are met.
-Providing nutrition research services to support research protocols. Performing nutrient analyses required for patient care and research protocols. Maintaining nutrient database for the Metabolic Kitchen including reviewing new ingredients and food products and updating the nutrient database with nutrient, food composition, labeling, and packaging information. Collecting and analyzing research data collected from patients including food records, food recalls, and dietary questionnaires. Performing body composition assessment.
-Providing patient education. Serving as a first-line report for problem resolution from patients or staff. Contributing to program objectives through participation in workgroup, projects, and teams. Participating in the educational experiences of Dietetic Interns, volunteers, and students in assigned areas.
