Here is a look at the major duties of the position:
· The Clinical Research Dietitian provides clinical nutrition care and nutrition research services to patients enrolled in protocols.
· He/She provides individual nutrition care to patients; screening newly admitted patients and gaining pertinent background information and diet history to assess the medical and research care priorities. The Dietitian is responsible for providing all components of the Nutrition Care Process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring/evaluation) to patients.
· He/She actively participates in the health care team by attending rounds, advising and informing the multidisciplinary health care team about the patient's nutritional care and nutrition research issues.
· The Dietitian provides nutrition research services to support protocols in assigned areas. This may include research design , protocol management, data collection and reporting body composition assessment and administering and analyzing food questionnaires.
· He/she is responsible for directing the Health Technicians (Dietetics) in the management of nutritional care and research support.
· The Clinical Research Dietitian provides training and in-service for medical/professional staff, dietetic interns, students and support personnel.
