Here is a look at the major duties of the position:
If you are selected for this position, you will serve as one of two dietitians that support the Metabolic Clinical Research Unit which specializes in research related to metabolism, weight management, and obesity. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Designing and implementing the nutrition and food related aspects of protocols including: planning, organizing, providing, and overseeing nutrition research for this specialized unit.
• Serving as a co-investigator on protocols with nutrition components and serving as an expert resource to investigators in the field of obesity, weight management, and metabolism.
• Utilizing advanced nutrition software and nutrient databases to develop and analyze specialized diets including Pro-Nutra and Pro-Nessy (Viocare Technologies), Nutrient Data Systems for Research NDS-R (University of Minnesota), and statistical programs.
• Conducting body composition assessments and indirect calorimetry analysis based on clinical judgment and research protocol requirements.
• Planning, coordinating, and evaluating the educational experiences of Dietetic Interns, volunteers, students and staff in the area of obesity, metabolism, metabolic studies, and other assigned areas.
• Conducting individual and group education sessions for patients which may include weekend and evening classes. Ensuring protocol participants are oriented and educated on the requirements for the nutrition component of studies to ensure compliance with the study requirements.
