Department of Nutrition, Food & Exercise Sciences - Asst. Professor - Florida State Univ.

POSITION: Assistant Professor in Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences in the College of Human Sciences at The Florida State University. This is a nine-month, tenure-track position.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in exercise science or exercise physiology with expertise in studying sports nutrition and exercise metabolism. Applicants should demonstrate evidence of teaching and research experience in exercise physiology and sports nutrition.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to develop/sustain an independent exercise and nutrition-related clinical or basic science research program that focuses on any one of the roles of sport performance (e.g. musculoskeletal conditions, anemia, dehydration) or human disease (e.g. abnormal body composition, metabolic/endocrine disorders). The candidate is expected to take advantage of opportunities for collaboration with scientists in the Department, University, and at nearby institutions. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate education missions, be a collegial member of the Department, and participate in service to the University and the community.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department has 15 faculty members, 130 graduate students, and approximately 1450 undergraduate majors. The Department offers undergraduate majors in dietetics, food and nutrition science, exercise science, and athletic training; master’s programs in sports nutrition, clinical nutrition, nutritional science, nutrition education, food science, and exercise physiology; and Ph.D. programs with emphases in human nutrition, food science, and exercise physiology.
