SNAP-Ed Program Associate, NJ

Reporting to the Chair of the Dept of Nutritional Sciences in the School of Health Related Professions at UMDNJ in Newark, the Program Associate I will provide professional leadership, management, supervision & support for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed) Project at UMDNJ in Essex County. This includes managing grant funds & the project budget & co-authoring the annual SNAP-Ed grant.

Responsible for the supervision & training of community assistants, volunteers & train-the-educator programs, as well as for coordinating & acting as preceptor for the Food Security Rotation required as part of UMDNJ's dietetic internship program.

Requires a bachelor's degree in nutrition or related health sciences area, or an equivalent combination of education &/or experience & 2 years related post-degree experience, including some supervisory experience. 3 years experience preferred. Registered Dietitian (RD) certification required, along with the ability to relate effectively with the public, manage budgets, evaluate the teaching skills of paraprofessionals & other staff, train & supervise volunteers & use financial spreadsheets. Proficiency in Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Publisher & the internet required. Experience working with limited resource population; fluency in speaking,reading & writing Spanish or other languages; & experience with program marketing, social marketing & program evaluation preferred.

Valid driver's license required.
