WIC Nutritionist, Piedmont Health Services NC

Piedmont Health Services, Inc., an exciting, non-profit agency committed to providing the highest quality preventative & primary health care services, is seeking a WIC Nutritionist for our Prospect Hill Community Health Center (located North of Hillsborough)

32 hours/week (Will not work on Fridays). We offer a fast-paced environment and superior medical insurance!



JOB SUMMARY 
The WIC Nutritionist performs a variety of responsible tasks involving counseling of individuals and families in nutrition principals, diet, food selection, and economics. Primary focus on WIC clients.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition or Dietetics required
Current/valid License: N/A 
Experience: One year of public health experience or similar preferred



PATIENT POPULATION SERVED 
Ethnically and racially diverse population of pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum women, infants, young children and all family members involved. 

Job Responsibilities/Tasks Include (but not limited to): 

*Determine WIC Program eligibility based on the medical and nutrition risk identified
*Determine risk codes, based on assessment and information presented
*Provide individualized counseling in nutrition and breastfeeding based on needs and resources identified above. Consults with medical providers, social work and other healthcare providers internally/externally as needed to provide optimal care
*Conducts counseling in culturally appropriate way to meet the needs of the patients
*Screens immunization records of clients and makes referral as appropriate
*Records proper documentation, based on contact, on all forms and electronically 
*Based on professional discretion, determines schedule for patient 
*Contacts health professionals or agencies as needed to provide optimal care 
*Works with other health center staff or outside medical professionals to provide care for patients 
*Defers to lead nutritionist or RD for additional guidance with patients 
*Demonstrates the ability to work with diverse patient populations served
