The Chicago office of Fleishman-Hillard has an immediate opening for an energetic, self-starting Sports Nutritionist [RD] to work on marketing efforts for a leading sports brand. The sports dietitian will represent our client and work with a variety of sports health professionals such as sports nutritionists, athletic trainers, and high school coaches. The position requires strategic program development, project management, writing and editing skills and representing the client at regional and national trade shows and meeting. The ideal candidate will be able to provide insights into the professionals who influence high school, college and professional athletes, and develop programs to help educate these critical audiences on the efficacy of the client’s product.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and sports health professionals at ACSM, SCAN, NATA, and ADA, developing strategic programs to educate these influencers; writing and editing materials; and attending conferences and meetings to communicate client messages. This person must have an understanding of sports nutrition, the athletic training profession, and be able to provide insights the key interests and biases of these professional audiences and through them, an understanding of how to communicate to athletes at all levels. The sports dietitian also would be expected to understand the overall strategy of the client program and use that knowledge to suggest successful tactics and implement them within a larger team. This position will travel approximately 20% of the time.
Qualifications:
At least 4-6 years of experience as a sports dietitian with hands-on experience working directly with athletes, preferably at the high school or college level.
Ideal candidate is a registered dietitian with specialized experience in sports dietetics. A minimum of an undergraduate and graduate degree from an accredited university in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field is required.
Strong program development and writing/editing skills are required.
Marketing and/or communications experience preferred but not required.
Detail - oriented, with the ability to meet a deadline without sacrificing quality.
Energetic, self-starter and resourceful problem solver – gets things moving and keeps them on track. High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.
Good interpersonal skills, works effectively in a team environment, can negotiate approvals diplomatically, and maintain composure and quality under constant deadline pressure.
Ability to recommend and initiate work and projects with minimal direction.
Ability to illustrate a results-focused approach and commitment to going the extra mile for clients. Experience working directly with clients on day-to-day activities.
